Part 1
In this part, the examiner asks you about yourself, your home, work or studies and other familiar topics.
Where is your favorite place to sit?
Definitely my gaming chair in my home office. I’m in my last year of university and I’m just having too much on my plate right now, you know, multiple projects and essays. Sitting on my gaming chair and playing some video games is the best way to unwind myself.
Do you always sit down for a long time?
Yes. As I have mentioned, I have many projects and essays to do. I often sit for more than five hours a day just to keep on track. Sometimes I even sit for the entire day.
Do you feel sleepy when you are sitting down?
Sometimes for sure. I mean, I think everyone will feel the same when they spend hours sitting down with their computer or textbooks. I drink lots of coffee to keep concentrated.
When you were a kid, did you usually sit on the floor?
I don’t think so. My mother is a cleaning freak, and she prohibits me from sitting on the floor because it is not hygienic.
Part 2 In this part, you will have to talk about the topic for one to two minutes. You have one minute to think about what you are going to say. You can make some notes to help you if you wish.
Describe an ambition that you haven’t achieved
You should say:
What it is
Why you haven’t achieved it
What you did
And how you felt about it
My plan to settle and work in a first world country is yet to be achieved. This is an ambition and plan I have for a long. After I got admitted to the university, I had some double about my major, which is ‘Social Science’. To be honest I was a bit frustrated not to study either in Engineering or in Medicine. However, in few months I started loving this subject I was studying and started feeling the immense possibility this might have in my future. That I time I considered settling in a first world country for the higher study and work
First of all, I need a really impressive result in my master’s degree program so that I can get a scholarship in a reputed university. The admission in a top-rated university in a first world country would be the first step in fulfilling my ambition. Then I would need to study and research really hard to have a prominent presence there so that I can get a decent job offer. My dedication, determination and hard work would be the vital factors for achieving this ambition.
This is very important for me to work and settle in a first world country. I have a fascination about researching in my study field and I am sure that would be better facilitated in a first world country. The career prospect and research facilities in my country are not that promising and I have an aspiration to contribute to a great extent in the arena I have my knowledge. Considering all these, it’s really important for me to achieve my ambition.
Part 3 In this part, the examiner asks you a few more detailed questions about the same topic.
What ambitions do children usually have?
Children have many ambitions. The first ambition is mainly about the profession- in childhood, everyone has the ambition to do something noble like becoming a doctor or do something exciting like becoming a pilot or an astronaut. Then, children also have an ambition of earning huge amounts of money.
Why are some people very ambitious in their work?
I think it’s just a part of their nature. They are ambitious because they want to grow and achieve something in their life. They want to be known for their work.
Why don’t some people have dreams?
I think everyone has certain dreams. It’s just that some people are too lazy to work for their dreams. On the other hand, there are others who can do anything for their dreams and it shows.
How do people balance work and life?
I think everyone does it in their own way. My mother switches off her work mobile phone after 5 PM. Some people do it by taking regular breaks when they only focus on their family. I think it is something almost every person tries to do and fails. In recent years, even governments are taking steps like limiting work hours so people are able to do so.
