The first chart below shows the number of airline crew (pilots, stewards etc) needed to fly a passenger plane between Australia and a number of other countries. The second chart shows the number of passenger complaints per plane journey made on these routes, and average kilogram (kg) weight of luggage (or baggage) carried per passenger.
- Write a report summarising the information. Select and describe the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
How to answer this essay?
- Introduce the graphs.
- You can describe the ‘crew numbers’ data in descending order, and then identify the trend between that and the ‘luggage weight’ chart. You can state the trend clearly (“This trend is reflected . . .”) and then give figures to illustrate the relationship.
- Apart from obvious trends, see some less noticeable features.
- You can identify the group which is an exception to this trend (“However, the pattern for customer complaints is reversed ...”) and then describe the figures.
- Write the summary sentence and check your work.
- You can make the summary sentence sum up the trends and groups described in the main body, stating that Malaysia and Indonesia are between the other 2 destinations in all of the data.
